Omega-3 fatty acids are considered to be "essential" fatty acids because dogs and cats must acquire them from food or supplementation; in other words, their bodies do not make these fatty acids naturally. Cats, in particular, do not produce the desaturase enzymes that are required to convert alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) to both eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The current formula features 425 mg of EPA and 270 mg of DHA per gel cap.
EPA and DHA are very beneficial for maintaining good cardiovascular health. They support good circulation by promoting healthy blood vessels, by optimizing vascular endothelial function, and by maintaining healthy lipid levels. They also support healthy brain function, especially in the aging animal.

Suggested Use:
Cats: 1 gelcap daily
Dogs: 1-2 gelcaps per 25 lbs of body weight daily
