What is CBD Oil?
It is a common misconception that marijuana and CBD are the same. Because marijuana is illegal in many states, those who could benefit the most are hesitant to give CBD a try.
The cannabis plant contains an abundance of compounds, also known as cannabinoids. THC and CBD are among the most prominent of the cannabinoids, making them the most well-known. Marijuana is made with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is what gives you that “high” feeling when it is ingested or smoked. The reason you feel high when you have THC is because your body has naturally produced receptors in the brain and nervous system called CB1 receptors. When THC enters your body, it will bind with the CB1 receptors, giving you that high sensation.
CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t bind with the CB1 receptors found in the brain and nervous system. As a result, this compound of the cannabis plant doesn’t give you a high like THC does. For this reason, you will find a higher concentration of CBD in medical marijuana, and a higher concentration of THC in recreational marijuana.
How is CBD Used?
Unlike marijuana, CBD oil is used for more health-related issues than THC. When people use marijuana, they are expecting to experience a high, whereas with CBD oil, you don’t experience that sensation, and therefore it is used for various other treatments. In most cases, CBD is used to aid those experiencing chronic pain, inflammation, and anxiety.
